Grout removal blades are consumables and everybody runs them too long. A blunt blade stops cutting the grout and starts skating, which is how you chip the tile edge you were trying to protect. Swapping in a fresh tungsten carbide tipped blade is the cheapest way to stop that happening.

Tungsten carbide is the tip material that survives cement based grout, which is abrasive enough to strip ordinary hardened steel in a few metres of joint.
