A 4mm V notch for thin bed work, where a bigger notch just squeezes glue up through the joints.

The notch decides how much adhesive ends up under the tile, and 4mm V is the one for a thin, even bed. On small format tiles over a flat substrate a deeper notch puts down more glue than you need, and the surplus comes up through the joints where you then have to dig it out before it goes off.

The blade is trade carbon steel on an aluminium shank, stiff enough to hold the notch profile through a full bag of adhesive rather than rounding the teeth off halfway. Timber handle with a Duragrip covering for comfort.
