A 230mm level with a magnetic V groove that sits on pipe and stays there.

The V groove is the reason a torpedo level lives in a plumber's bag. A flat level rocks on round pipe and gives you a different reading every time you put it down, the V seats on the pipe and the magnet holds it there so you have both hands free to set the bracket.

Three vials cover level, plumb and 45 degrees, so you are not carrying a second tool for a brace or a fall. At 230mm it fits between studs and inside a cabinet where a 600mm level will not go, and the rubber end caps take the knocks that normally crack a vial.
