A hacksaw on PVC leaves burrs and a cut that is never quite square, and both of those stop a fitting seating properly. The stainless steel blade here shears through the pipe wall cleanly instead of tearing it, so the pipe goes into the socket the full depth and glues up without leaving a leak path.

It handles any PVC pipe up to 42mm in diameter, which covers the conduit, stormwater and irrigation you run day to day, and it does it without kinking or shattering the pipe in the process.
