A lumber crayon that marks rough, wet and dirty timber where a pencil will not.

A pencil needs a reasonably clean, dry surface to leave anything. A crayon does not. On wet timber, sawn hardwood, formply, steel or concrete it lays down a bold mark you can pick out from the other end of the stack, which is the point when you are sorting and marking material rather than setting out a fine cut.
