A 25mm wide blade is what gives you standout, the distance you can push the tape out horizontally before it folds over. That is the difference between measuring a span on your own and needing someone to hold the other end.

The nylon coating on the blade is the part that decides how long the tape lasts. Bare printed blades wear their markings off at the first metre, which is the bit that drags through grit every single time you use it. The rubber overmould grip gives you something to hold with wet or gloved hands, and the quick release button drops the blade back without letting it snap in under its own spring.
