The chamfered striking end is what keeps it from mushrooming into a hazard.

A cold chisel with a square head starts spreading after a few hundred hits, and those spread edges turn into shards that come off at your face. Chamfering the striking end takes the sharp shoulder off, so the head deforms far slower and the chisel stays safe to hit for a lot longer.

The shaft is hexagonal, which means it does not roll off the slab when you put it down and it gives your hand a flat to hold rather than a round bar that twists on impact. It is high quality carbon steel, solid forged with hardened cutting edges, so the edge holds up in masonry instead of rolling over on the second course.
