Light enough to work a wall overhead without your shoulder giving out before the coat does.

A float is a tool you hold up and move in circles for hours. Weight is the whole argument, and polystyrene is about as light as a float gets, so the fatigue that normally decides when you stop is pushed a long way back. It also floats up a texture on render without dragging the surface the way a harder face does.

It is moulded as one piece of foam rather than a face glued to a handle, so there is no join to come apart when it gets wet and gets worked. At 140mm by 260mm it is a size you can control one handed and still cover ground with.
