The blade is high grade stainless. That matters on pool work because the tool is wet for hours at a time, and stainless keeps a clean consistent face instead of staining the finish as it goes off.

The blade, shank and handle are held together with stainless steel rivets rather than a pressed joint, on a heavy duty aluminium shank. The shank is the part that takes the load when you lean into a trowel, and it is where a lesser tool starts to flex and chatter across the surface. The DURAGRIP handle keeps your hand comfortable through a long finishing session.
