A hand saw set up to start the cut where you want it, not two teeth along.

The first few strokes are where a hand saw either bites on your line or skates off it and leaves a mark you have to work back to. A quick start saw is designed to catch and track from the first pull, which matters most on a cut you are making by eye without a guide.

Best For Chippies and site trades making quick timber cuts by hand where dragging out a power saw is not worth it.
