The tang runs all the way through the handle in one piece of steel, so the force of a hammer blow travels through the tool instead of into the join where the handle meets the blade. That is the part that snaps on a cheap chisel the first time someone reaches for a claw hammer instead of a mallet.

The strike cap is oversized on purpose, so you can hit it on an angle when you are working into a corner or paring a hinge housing and still land the blow square. The acetate handles are split proof, and the hardened steel blade holds its edge long enough that you are not back at the stone every hour.
