How to Use It

• Site Preparation: Consult local council regulations prior to construction. Mark out the ground where the wall will be located using stakes and a string line or spray paint.
• Calculate Materials: Measure the proposed wall height and length to determine the number of blocks required. Multiply the wall's area (height x length) by the number of Modernstone® units per square meter, adding an extra 5% to cover any mishaps.
• Excavation: Dig a shallow trench approximately 130mm deep and 350mm wide along the marked line, removing any roots and soft earth.
• Levelling Pad: Fill the trench with coarse sand or road base to create a 100mm thick leveling pad. Compact and level the material to provide a stable foundation.
• First Course: Place blocks side by side on the leveling pad, using a string line along the back for alignment. Ensure each unit is level side to side and front to back.
• Drainage Installation: Install a 100mm diameter subsoil pipe behind the first course and surround it with 12-20mm clean, free-draining granular material such as gravel or blue metal.
• Backfilling: Place drainage material 150mm wide behind the first course. Shovel and compact the backfill (existing site soil) behind the drainage material.
• Subsequent Courses: Sweep the top of the previous course clean. Place the next course of Modernstone® units in a running bond pattern, ensuring each block is properly aligned and seated. Continue stacking, backfilling, and compacting until the desired wall height is achieved.

• Delivery: Free delivery to your door when ordering 2 full pallets or more. For orders less than 2 pallets, standard delivery rates apply.
