A ready-made footing block for small retaining walls, so you level a row of blocks on sand instead of screeding a roadbase pad by hand.

The Torpedo base block is a solid, wide concrete footing unit that replaces the compacted roadbase pad under an unreinforced gravity retaining wall. Because it is laid on a thin bed of sand and cement, each block can be tapped level with a mallet, which takes the guesswork and the screeding skill out of getting the base right.

Lay the blocks in the trench on no more than 25mm of cement stabilised bedding sand, tap them level, then glue the first course of wall blocks to the centre of each base block with a landscape grade adhesive. Adbri shows it under Versawall and says it suits other retaining wall blocks too. It is only for footings of unreinforced gravity walls built to Adbri's published maximum heights, not engineered walls. The base is the slowest part of any wall, and a base that runs late pushes the rest of the job back with it.

Features

  • Replaces the compacted roadbase footing on small gravity walls
  • Taps level on a sand and cement bed, no advanced screeding needed
  • Solid and wide for a stable start to the wall
  • First course glues straight onto the centre of the block
  • Suits Versawall and other retaining wall blocks

Best For Footings for unreinforced garden retaining walls and raised beds built to the manufacturer's maximum unreinforced height.

Sizing Priced per block. Each base block is 400mm long, so a 4.8m wall needs 12 base blocks laid end to end. Not sure it suits your wall? Give us a call and we will work it out with you.
